Ely Hero Awards 2019

Ely Hero Awards 2019

Last night (Monday 1st July 2019) the Ely Hero Awards 2019 were held at The Maltings, Ely Riverside. The evening was filled with laughs, food, cheers, tears and happiness, recognising the inspirational individuals in our community! The evening featured food from Habis, singing from Elma and Kathryn Buck and a hugely popular raffle organised by Life Fitness to raise funds for this year’s Charity of the Year – Fen House, Brain Injury Rehabilitation Trust in Ely.

Fen House provides high quality intensive assessment and rehabilitation services for adults with an acquired brain injury to support them to regain many of the abilities they may have lost as a result of their injury. They have a full clinical team consisting of Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists, Psychologists and Speech and Language Therapists to assist with long term recovery.

Opening the evening, Mayor of Ely Mike Rouse, described the event, which is now in its third-year, as being a chance for “all supermen and superwomen to gather together”. The evening was hosted by Chris Mann, from BBC Radio Cambridgeshire who invited winners and finalists to the stage to enjoy their moment of glory. From incredible community champions to dedicated teachers, and fundraisers to young stars, a wealth of deserving people were nominated in ten categories.

The night was yet again another Heroes Award Ceremony to remember, and this is why we love co-organising this event with Naomi from MetroRod Cambridge! In the run up to the event we create posters, postcards, roadside banners, roller banners, brochures, invites, certificates and much more printed and digital collateral for the evening.

It’s crazy to see how much this event has been welcomed into the Ely community and it is amazing to see it blossom the way it has after only three years! We hope this event is becoming one for the diary and that everyone who was in attendance had a wonderful night! It really did go out with a bang! We look forward to bringing the awards back to Ely next year.
