Much Ado About Design
Shakespeare at the Towers is a distinguished amateur theatre company, renowned for delivering productions of near-professional quality during a two-week run each summer. Originally founded in 1959 as Shakespeare at the George, the company began its journey with open-air performances of Shakespearean classics in the historic courtyard of The George Hotel, Huntingdon. Over the course of 65 years, these productions have captivated tens of thousands of audience members, establishing a cherished cultural tradition.
In 2025, the company transitioned to the evocative setting of Buckden Towers—an authentic and historically rich venue (once home to Catherine of Aragon) that continues to offer an immersive theatrical experience. This move ensures the legacy of exceptional performances remains intact whilst embracing a new chapter in a truly remarkable location.
Our partnership with Shakespeare at the Towers spans over a decade, during which we have been privileged to support the company through production design, marketing materials, and high-quality programmes. Our collaborative efforts have been recognised with six NODA awards, including the prestigious national award for Best Luxury Programme.
