Explore East Cambs

Exploring tourism through design

Tourism is worth £200 million a year to the East Cambs District, so as part of East Cambridgeshire District Council’s tourism strategy, which aims to further endorse the Council’s commitment to making East Cambridgeshire a fantastic place to live, work and visit, they were looking to launch a website to showcase what the district has to offer.

Working with ECDC, we produced a fresh brand identity, and designed and built a comprehensive, interactive tourism website, with the idea of it being a one-stop-shop for people looking to visit East Cambridgeshire. All establishments featured on the site are also provided with an ‘As Featured on Explore East Cambs’ logo for use on their websites and in marketing materials.

From the beauty of the big, open skies and sweeping countryside to the historic city of Ely with its magnificent Cathedral dominating the landscape for miles around, East Cambs is wonderfully eclectic – the Explore East Cambs branding and website needed to reflect this.

The website features tailored itineraries and themed sections based on the type of traveller you are and what you would like to do on your trip. The site also offers a great search tool which allows users to search all accommodation providers, attractions, events, eateries, pubs and bars by the specific facilities you require.

An interactive Explorer map allows visitors to explore establishments in an alternative way to the listings, while the High Street Map was an added feature as part of the Council’s COVID recovery scheme.

The website amalgamates all sources of tourist information for the area, creating a unified brand.

I've worked with Studio Nova on a few website and branding projects in recent years. They have exceptional creative talent and their work is fresh, vibrant and eye-catching, as well as being delivered on time and on-budget. Their approach is friendly, collaborative and full of brilliant ideas. I highly recommend their services!
